This is this 3rd revision of this template. In fact it should be the 4th or even the 5th. In between, there were 1 or 2 revisions which were overwritten by the newer ones.
Version 3 is also more organized in terms of using <includes>.
I have always wanted to experiment on a single column template with a width of 730px. The problem was the container or the page wrapper was set at 930px.
With that setting, it will never be a true 730px page for a 800px screen.
This new version moved the horizontal navigation to new row below. That allows the header to be reduced to the same width with the rest of the page.
This template carries a risk. It uses an additional first level. Since this site does not has a domain name that reflects its theme, I add in a <H1> for this site's description - Make Your Own Website, and another <H1> for the page's title.
Will I be penalized for using 2 Level One Headings?
SEO gurus have always recommend using <H1> once only for each page.
However, The soon-to-be-ready HTML5 recommends a <H1> heading for each section. So, it should be permissable.
Well, we shall see.
I am satisfied with this new template as much as I was satisfied with other older versions.
As we are not dependable on designers, the advantage of designing our own template is that we could constantly improve on it as we move along.
I plan to use a different template version or perhaps a slight variation of the same template for each category:
