DNS Configuration for WPMU
Instead of asking my host to “add a wildcard record to the DNS records”, this is what I did:
I logged in to my cPanel and at the “Create a Subdomain” section, I added an asterisk symbol “*”.
The creation of the first blog was successful.
To test if the creating of subdomain was due to this addition, I removed the subdomain with the “*” sign and sure enough, the site shows a 500 Internal Server Error.
500 Internal Server Error
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@starising.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I inserted the “*” symbol back and all the sites showed up again.
It’s been a month since the WPMU has been running and after creating 2 more subdomains, it’s still running fine.
Will this method work for your site? Let me know.

You are a genius! Without a reseller account, I have been trying to figure out how to get my wpmu site working. I didn’t feel like e-mailing support, and now I don’t have to. Thank you for an amazing hack!
