This is the least important of the 3 parts of Make Your Own Website.
Very few web owners design their own site. They just take a template and start building. Some would do some customization. Some prefer not to touch anything at all.
You may have noticed many bloggers are still using the WordPress default template - for years.
They may have tried to make a few changes but gave up after a few attempts. That's understandable.
You can meddle with the codes for a few days and still ends up with nothing but only in frustration.
I include this segment for a few reasons. Being able to dabble with the codes enables you to do something else at a later stage:
If you didn't like designing, knowing a little CSS and HTML helps you in customizing a template to make it yours.
Any template, regardless if it's a free download or a premium template, you won't be the only one in cyberspace using that template.
Some premium templates even come with backlinks to the designers' site embedded. If you paid for a template, learn where to look for them and delete them.
If it's a free download that comes with a condition that you not removed that link, then honor it.
Throughout this site, I use this one-column template. I'll show you the step-by-step process of designing this template.
You can just copy the HTML and CSS codes and use them rightaway to build your website.
Or you can follow my step-by-step guide in designing this template.
Once you mastered the basics, you'll be able to convert them into a 2-column or 3-column template with ease.
